We are pleased to announce our next on-site HPC introduction training session, in cooperation with the Vlaams Supercomputer Centrum (VSC).

This on-site training session is a hands-on introductory course focusing on young and/or early stage researchers (Doctoral students, Master thesis students) with practical sessions on HPC job preparation, submission and monitoring. The Hydra cluster as well as the VSC organisation will be described.

Program#

  • General introduction to high-performance computing (HPC, supercomputing)

  • Using the module system for software packages

  • Submitting, monitoring, managing simple jobs on the HPC cluster (Hydra)

  • Various examples covering common and more specialized use cases

  • Tips and best practices

  • Excercises throughout the course

Practical Information#

  • Participants must bring their own laptop.

  • Sandwiches will be provided at lunchtime.

  • No prior Linux or HPC experience required.

  • For practical reasons, the Hydra cluster will be used throughout the course.
