New notebook platform pilot#
We are very pleased to announce the beginning of the second pilot phase of the Notebook platform of VUB-HPC.
Since the initial opening of the notebook platform pilot on December 2022, we have received very positive feedback and constructive remarks from the users. Based on that feedback, we implemented many modifications to the notebook platform which is now entering it’s second pilot phase. These are the main changes:
New JupyteLab environments using software modules in 2022a toolchains. The same environment flavours found in 2021a are also available in 2022a.
There is a new JupyterLab environment including the Dask dashboard.
The lab interface is now launched from your
VSC_DATA
instead of the very smallVSC_HOME
, this determines the scope of the file browser in JupyterLab.The documentation of the notebook platform is expanded and revised.
Access to the notebook platform is still restricted to connection from campus or via the VPN. We expect to remove these access restrictions very soon.

A VPN is no longer required to access the noteboook platform, as long as you connect from inside Belgium.
