Bug fixes for GCC and OpenBLAS

On Monday October 24th 2022 we’ve reinstalled two key components in the foss/2021b and foss/2022a toolchains to fix two important bugs.

The reinstalled software are:

• GCC versions 11.2 and 11.3

• OpenBLAS versions 0.3.18 and 0.3.20

These two bugs can cause wrong results in programs written in Fortran using certain symbols from the LAPACK linear algebra package, or software that links to certain LAPACK routines in OpenBLAS. So far, we are not aware of any particular workload or job in our clusters that has been impacted by these bugs.

Therefore, we recommend our users to first evaluate if they are using any program that could potentially rely on LAPACK and, in such a case, repeat a few jobs to verify if their results are consistent.

Users developing or building their own software with Fortran or linking with OpenBLAS should recompile their programs.
