External network connection cut#

Updated on 30/06/2022

23:00 The issues with the network have been solved and the connection of Hydra to external systems is back to normal.

The connection between Hydra and the Internet is being severely affected by an issue in the VUB network. Login servers are not reachable and any running job requiring the download or upload of data from an external system (websites or servers) will fail.

The internal network of the cluster is unaffected by this issue. Communication between nodes and the storage is working fine and running/queued jobs will work without trouble as long as they do not need to get data from external servers.

If you need to access your data in VSC_DATA or VSC_HOME, you can use other VSC sites in the meantime. For instance, you can login to the HPC cluster of UGent with your VSC account in the same way that you connect to Hydra by using the login server login.hpc.ugent.be instead of login.hpc.vub.be.

Unfortunately, we do not yet have any time frame for the resolution of this issue. We will keep this post updated with the latest information.

Our apologies for the trouble.
